Job summary

Independent Bank is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to lead regulatory risk assessment and guidance across the organization. You will partner with senior management and business lines to implement regulations, monitor examinations, and drive responsible growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in compliance and/or mortgage/consumer loan experience (5+ years)
• Solid knowledge of consumer regulations and regulatory frameworks
• Experience in analysis, project management, and cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

• Perform or facilitate compliance risk assessments.
• Provide guidance on regulatory issues and implementation timelines.
• Oversee project plans to comply with new regulations; conduct GAP analyses.
• Integrate regulatory requirements into policies, processes, and controls.
• Respond to internal compliance questions and regulator inquiries.
• Ensure marketing and disclosures comply with regulations.
• Support regulatory examinations and audits; track corrective actions.
• Contribute to development of new products, systems, policies, and initiatives.
• Coordinate activities for effective compliance monitoring.
• Prepare management reports on risks, trends, and upcoming regulatory changes.
• Maintain and lead a training program using online platforms.
• Mentor team members and foster a results-oriented compliance culture.
• Investigate customer complaints and coordinate responses with regulators.
