Job summary

Kokua is seeking a Sr. Manager, Compliance & Employee Relations to scale our workforce compliance program across states while partnering with Talent, Operations, Payroll, and HRBPs.

You will translate complex regulatory requirements into simple, scalable processes and provide oversight, training, and escalation paths for frontline teams. Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive HR, employee relations, or compliance experience.
• Experience implementing multi-state compliance programs in high-volume workforce.
• Strong knowledge of employment practices across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
• Experience with I-9/E-Verify, background and credential compliance, wage & hour, leave, accommodations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex issues clearly.
• Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own compliance standards, controls, and framework across the employee lifecycle.
• Translate regulatory complexity into scalable processes for Talent, Operations, and frontline teams.
• Provide oversight, monitoring, training, and escalation paths.
• Coordinate with HRBP, Operations, Payroll, and counsel on compliance matters.
• Support new market launches with readiness checklists and governance.
• Provide guidance on risk, investigations, and employee relations matters.
