Job summary

Antora Energy, Inc. is seeking a Sr./Staff Compliance Engineer to own the compliance strategy as we scale thermal battery technology for global deployment.

You will shape safety cases, interact with AHJs and certifiers, and influence standards to optimize safety, cost, and performance as production scales. You will collaborate with product development, engineering, testing, projects, and EH&S to align certification planning with the product roadmap and market needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 8+ years in product compliance or codes and standards.
• Experience taking first-of-a-kind equipment through certification with AHJs and NRTLs.
• Fluent in codes and standards for energy storage and industrial facilities (NFPA 855/70, UL 9540, ASME, IFC/IBC, ASCE 7).
• Ability to build safety cases and conduct hazard analyses with engineering and testing teams.
• Strong communicator who can influence regulators, certifiers, and internal stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and driving resolution with cross-functional teams.
• Commercial judgment to balance safety, cost, and deployment risk.
• Experience leading product certification to NRTL listing for high-volume production.
• Startup/early-stage environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own Antora's compliance strategy across design, testing, and deployment, defining certification boundaries and evidence.
• Build the safety case and certification pathways, engaging AHJs and NRTLs early.
• Lead codes & standards advocacy with NFPA, ASME, ASHRAE, UL, and other bodies; guide design changes when needed.
• Assess site-specific AHJ requirements and compare field certification with alternatives.
• Develop UL/NRTL certification strategy aligned with the product roadmap and future production.
• Create a comprehensive codes and standards database for current and future products across jurisdictions.
• Advise on environmental design standards and applicability to TES and electrical systems.
• Help write Antora's safety and reliability policy with EH&S and reliability teams.
• Travel ~15–25% for meetings, engagements, and project sites.
