Position Description
The Senior Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable institutional, state, and federal regulatory requirements through monitoring and researching compliance matters and implementing applicable policies within the University Controller’s Office.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- PeopleSoft or other ERP experience
- Higher education experience
- Audit experience
- Sponsored award and/or contract accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories, and terminology of accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management.
- Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to understand federal and state fiscal accounting processes and regulatory matters.
- Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to understand higher education and state government fiscal accounting processes
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports.
- Detail oriented, with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to problem-solve and research effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbal and written.
Job Duties
- Oversees critical aspects of the sponsored award compliance function, ensuring adherence to state and federal laws and regulations, including Uniform Guidance, and directing the institution’s time and effort reporting process. (25%)
- Leads components of the subrecipient monitoring and invoicing function, ensuring compliance with federal regulations through risk assessments, desk reviews, ongoing evaluation of subrecipient performance, and identification and mitigation of compliance risks. (25%)
- Monitors regulatory reporting requirements and coordinates and prepares required reports to ensure accurate, timely, and complete submission in accordance with applicable institutional, state, and federal requirements. (20%)
- Monitors other compliance matters as assigned to ensure adherence to all institutional, state, and federal regulatory requirements and University policies. Researches, analyzes, and resolves complex inquiries, providing informed guidance and identifying appropriate solutions based on applicable policies, regulations, and institutional requirements. (15%)
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing policies, procedures, programs, plans, systems, and operations to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. Assists with developing, documenting, and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, including best practices and standard operating procedures. (15%)
