Job summary

Crawford & Company is seeking an experienced claims professional to investigate and settle advanced, large loss, and complex claims in a structured environment in Florida. The role emphasizes independent judgment, reserve setting, and collaboration with supervisors and company attorneys during litigation preparation.

Responsibilities include directing complex investigations, managing litigation strategy with counsel, and mentoring new hires.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; industry designations preferred but not required.
• 4-8 years of experience in Claims or similar organization.
• Ability to work independently while assimilating various technical subjects.
• Strong written and oral communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of internal and external clients.
• Workers Compensation Adjuster License required according to jurisdictional requirements

Responsibilities

• Interprets and makes decisions using independent judgement on complex coverages and determines applicability.
• Manages investigative activity on complex claims and directs discovery with legal counsel.
• Analyzes claims activity and prepares reports for clients/carriers and management.
• Establishes reserves and authorizes payments within authority to settle claims cost-effectively.
• Settles claims promptly and issues company drafts within limits.
• Develops subrogation and third-party recovery potential.
• Participates in claim reviews and analyzes activities for clients and management.
