Job summary

Crawford & Company in the United States seeks an experienced claims adjuster to provide and deliver adjustment services across multiple lines of business. You will investigate, interview, reserve, and negotiate claims to protect client interests while following regulatory and Crawford standards.

The role requires at least a college degree or equivalent and 2+ years of adjusting experience, with the ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed.

Qualifications

• College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 2 years insurance adjusting experience with in at least two lines of business (casualty, property, or workers' compensation).
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage and negotiating skills across multiple lines of business.
• Licensing as required by state and local jurisdictions; valid drivers license.
• Ability and willingness to travel and flexible schedule as required by case load.

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, liability, compensability and damages with all parties involved in a claim as requested by our customers or Crawford and Company or a subsidiary thereof.
• Interview claimants and witnesses, establish claim reserves, handle evidence, obtain and interpret reports, and attend/participate at mediation, trials or hearings.
• Negotiate and settle claims, set reserves, and manage litigation within client service parameters and authority levels by obtaining demands and making offers to claimants.
• Present evidence at legal proceedings when required.
• Provide filings with regulatory agencies, disposing of salvage and pursuing subrogation when appropriate.
• Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by the client and obtained through investigation.
• Self-starter capable of working alone or with others.
• Maintain company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with regulations and service standards.
• Maintain expected case loads across multiple lines of business while meeting service delivery, production, quality, and educational objectives.
• Respond to emergency on-site claim investigations before, during and after work hours.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education in multiple lines of business.
• Maintain product quality through compliance with standards and internal quality control.
• Uphold Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
• Participates in special projects or other duties as requested.
