Job summary

5V Tech in Wisconsin is seeking a senior toolchain engineer to own investigations into runtime behavior and code footprint, building measurement infrastructure that spans from compiler to system.

You’ll drive measuring runtime performance and binary size, trace faults at the system level with delivery and validation teams, and run benchmarking to track toolchain quality across large codebases.

Qualifications

• Several years working on compilers, commercially or in research.
• Professional development experience on LLVM, GCC, or another production-grade compiler.
• Strong grounding in instruction sets and processor microarchitecture.
• Comfortable across the wider toolchain, not just the compiler.
• A track record in large-scale codebases.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Measuring runtime performance and binary size to pinpoint where the compiler can do better.
• Tracing faults that appear at the system level, working them through with the delivery and validation teams.
• Building and running the benchmarking used to track toolchain quality.
