Job summary

Albemarle is seeking a Parks and Recreation professional to plan, coordinate, teach, and supervise a range of leisure activities for the city’s residents. The role involves recruiting staff and volunteers, publicizing programs, coordinating with center staff, and ensuring safe, successful program delivery in varied environments.

You will assist in grant development, budget requests, and reporting, while maintaining lines of communication with civic groups and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, physical education, or related field with experience in recreational programming.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
• CPR/First Aid Certification within timeframe determined by the City.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and promotes recreation activities for various age groups and coordinates staff.
• Plans, organizes athletic events and leagues; recruits and trains coaches and officials; schedules fields and events.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises volunteers and paid staff; ensures standards are met.
• Promotes programs, solicits donations or sponsorships, and handles publicity.
• Schedules locations for programs and group performances.
• Registers participants and handles fees and records.
• Ensures clean appearance of recreation centers and guides staff in preparations.
• Assists with locating and applying for grants and budgeting requests; manages purchases and inventory.
• Contributes to formulation and execution of departmental rules and policies.
• Liaises with public and private groups; supports department programs.
• Prepares regular and special reports as required.
• Performs related duties as required.
