Job summary

The City of Albemarle invites applications for the Recreation Program Supervisor to lead senior and community programming. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee recreational activities, classes, trips, and events for adults 50+, while engaging sponsors and partners to support citywide programs.

You will supervise volunteers and staff, ensure safe operations, and promote programs using RecDesk, Torch, and social media. Strong collaboration with partners and staff is required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, physical education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, fundraise, and promote programs for older adults and citywide senior events.
• Coordinate year-round outreach, education, classes, trips, and events with local partners.
• Recruit, train, supervise volunteers, coaches, officials, and staff.
• Plan, promote, and facilitate special events and ceremonies; obtain sponsors and partners.
• Manage facilities, scheduling, and reports; use RecDesk/Torch for registrations; liaise with public/private agencies.
