Job summary

United Way of Central Indiana is seeking a Senior Manager of Communications to integrate internal and external messaging across channels, set editorial standards, own communications plans from planning through execution and measurement, and collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing to support divisional goals.

In a typical week, you may pitch reporters, place an op-ed, craft internal updates, transform program updates into impact stories, and refresh the website.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.
• 4–6+ years of experience in communications with nonprofit or similar organization a plus.
• Broad experience as a communications generalist across media relations, internal communications, marketing communications and digital content.

Responsibilities

• Draft press releases, media advisories, statements and public-facing communications.
• Manage inbound media inquiries and coordinate responses with leadership.
• Develop media briefing materials and FAQs for leadership interviews and appearances.
• Draft, edit, and place op-eds and bylined commentary with subject-matter experts.
