Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a senior communications leader to shape how we talk about our ads and monetization efforts. You will define the global narrative and lead communications for major product milestones, collaborating with Product, GTM, Marketing, Policy and Legal.

Based in San Francisco with a hybrid four-days-per-week schedule and relocation assistance, the role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, guiding executives and building trusted relationships with press.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of communications experience, with deep experience in ads and monetization at a high-growth technology company.
• Strong press instincts and relationships, with a track record of shaping narratives and landing impactful coverage.
• Demonstrate exceptional editorial judgment and taste.
• Skilled at advising senior executives and navigating high-visibility environments with calm and clarity.
• Can move fluidly between setting a strategic vision and executing the details.
• Experience working in highly cross-functional, matrixed organizations, with strong instincts for alignment across product, GTM, and marketing.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead communications strategy for OpenAI’s ads and monetization initiatives, from global narrative development through launches and sustained storytelling.
• Build a clear, differentiated story about how OpenAI approaches ads, including the value it creates for users, businesses and the broader ecosystem.
• Partner closely with Product, GTM and Marketing to deliver coordinated campaigns across earned, owned, and social channels in support of business outcomes.
• Own media engagement and build trusted relationships with leading business, technology and advertising press.
• Advise senior leadership on positioning, messaging, launch strategy, and how to proactively shape industry conversations.
• Translate complex product, technical and commercial decisions into clear, accessible communications for a range of audiences.
• Establish messaging, operating rhythms and communications systems that keep teams aligned as the business grows.
