Job summary

New America’s Thriving Families entertainment initiative seeks a Senior Communications Associate in Los Angeles or New York. You will shape how the initiative presents itself through graphic design, video, writing, and social media management, collaborating with creatives and stakeholders across the media-for-social-impact ecosystem.

The role emphasizes flexible, high-visibility work, with responsibilities from blog publishing to campaign materials, and a focus on gender equity and work-family

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in communications and/or design.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and strong typography/visual design sense.
• Video editing experience with Premiere Pro or Final Cut.
• Experience using data visualization tools (Datawrapper, Tableau).
• Comfort with project management and database tools (Airtable, Notion).
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Create static infographics and data visualizations translating audience research into visuals.
• Design materials using brand guidelines: social graphics, newsletters, print products, slide decks.
• Publish blog posts on WordPress and coordinate updates with central communications.
• Take photos/videos at events; plan, shoot, and edit short videos for social media.
• Plan, caption, and publish social content on Instagram; monitor engagement and collaboration requests.
• Draft and send outreach communications to executives, creatives, journalists, and stakeholders each quarter.
• Coordinate printing and shipping of published materials for events and offices.
