Job summary

AGCO Corporation in Hesston, KS is seeking a Sr Buyer to lead sourcing, negotiation and supplier management for direct-material commodities. The role collaborates with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Sales to deliver cost, quality, and supply reliability, leveraging global and LCC suppliers.

This onsite, permanent position emphasizes cost optimization, supplier governance, and cross-functional teamwork to support AGCO's manufacturing programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or industrial engineering.
• 6+ years purchasing or sourcing experience, including 4+ years with suppliers located in low-cost countries and 3+ years with an equipment OEM or Tier 1 supplier to an OEM.
• Proven commodity sourcing and negotiation experience with direct-material suppliers.
• Strong cost analysis skills, including cost breakdowns, should-cost models, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for assigned commodities (e.g., stamping, machining, welding, injection molding, rubber molding).
• Experience managing suppliers located in low-cost countries and proficiency with ERP/purchasing systems (SAP preferred).
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, including market and supply base analysis, supplier consolidation, and LCC sourcing opportunities.
• Lead the RFQ process: prepare RFQ packages, solicit and evaluate supplier quotations, perform cost breakdowns and should-cost analysis, and recommend supplier selection.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, long-term agreements, and commercial terms with external suppliers to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, cost, responsiveness); lead corrective actions and conduct business reviews with key suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate supply risk through dual sourcing, supplier capacity and financial assessments, and contingency planning.
• Drive Product Cost Optimization (PCO) and cost-reduction initiatives with Engineering, Quality, and suppliers; track and report savings against targets.
• Support makes vs. buy analysis and Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) for supplier tooling and investments; track purchased part cost and investment.
