Vaco is seeking an Interim Senior Commissions Accountant for a healthcare organization in Long Beach, CA. The role focuses on the accurate processing of broker commissions within a Medicare Advantage environment, including semi-monthly payments for thousands of brokers across seven states.

You will calculate, validate, and journalize commissions, reconcile variances, and partner with Sales and Accounting to address questions.

Competenze

• Medicare Advantage experience strongly preferred, especially broker commissions.
• Experience in commissions accounting, incentive compensation, payroll, or high-volume processing.
• Strong accounting foundation, including journal entries.
• Advanced Excel skills for large data-set manipulation and analysis.
• Exceptional attention to detail with high-volume data discrepancies.
• Experience in health insurance industry.
• Ability to work independently and meet semi-monthly deadlines.

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Interim Senior Commissions Accountant with a healthcare organization. This role will focus on the accurate and timely processing of high-volume broker commissions within a highly regulated Medicare Advantage environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process semi-monthly commission payments for approximately 6,000 internal and external brokers across seven states
• Calculate and validate broker commissions in accordance with complex, state-specific Medicare Advantage requirements
• Analyze and manipulate large data sets to ensure commission accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and record related journal entries
• Reconcile commission activity and research payment variances
• Partner closely with Sales and Accounting to address commission-related questions and issues
• Support implementation and review of 2027 commission rates
• Maintain a high level of accuracy while managing multiple deadlines and large transaction volumes

Requirements:

• Medicare Advantage experience strongly preferred, particularly exposure to commissions or broker payments
• Prior experience with commissions accounting, incentive compensation, payroll, or high-volume payment processing
• Strong accounting foundation, including experience preparing journal entries
• Advanced Excel skills, including: Large data-set manipulation and analysis
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies within high-volume data
• Experience working in the health insurance industry
• Ability to work independently and meet strict semi-monthly processing deadlines
