Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) seeks a Senior Commissioning Engineer in our Chapel Hill office to lead testing, commissioning, and performance verification of building systems for healthcare, science, and energy projects.

You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, oversee system tests, prepare training, and ensure compliance with codes and specifications while mentoring junior staff and maintaining client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering from an accredited program.
• Functional knowledge of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, technology, instrumentation and controls, process or lighting systems.
• Understanding of applicable codes, standards and specification requirements, and ability to interpret them.
• Extensive knowledge of commissioning processes and commissioning process delivery.
• Fundamental knowledge of construction processes and project delivery models.
• Proficient in application of applicable technologies including computer/software, data loggers, test and measurement equipment.
• Professional Engineering license (PE) in one or more states or minimum of 10 years in a commissioning related practice.
• Commissioning certification with a nationally recognized professional body.
• Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
