Job summary

IMEG seeks an experienced Commissioning Lead in Raleigh, NC to manage and support multiple projects across healthcare, education, government, and commercial markets. You will interface with clients, coordinate teams, and oversee schedules and budgets to deliver robust building performance.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years in Commissioning or 11+ years in MEP design/consulting; 8–12 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, and schedule and budget management.
• Develop commissioning plans, specifications, and project documentation using web-based tools, including Cx Alloy.
• Perform commissioning design reviews, construction document reviews, and equipment submittal reviews.
• Lead commissioning meetings and communicate with client stakeholders.
• Perform jobsite field observations and issue detailed field reports.
• Develop pre-functional checklists and functional performance test procedures.
• Coordinate and self-perform functional testing with contractors/owners and manage issues to resolution.
• Perform technical analysis of building operation, controls, sequences, etc.
• Contribute to improving commissioning processes and quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Supervise and mentor less-experienced employees.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
• Experience: 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent; OR 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in Commissioning or in Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) design consulting industry, or equivalent
• Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients
  • Experienced knowledge of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations
  • Experienced knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems
  • Experienced knowledge of Cx Industry Standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and code requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.)
  • Experienced in the review of construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing and electrical drawings, specifications, etc.)
  • Experienced knowledge of electrical and fire/life safety systems
  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures
  • Experienced in troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software
  • Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems and coordinates non-standard test scopes such as technology, BECx, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software
  • Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely)
• Preferred:
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Recognized Building Commissioning Certification preferred (or ability and desire to obtain one)
