Job summary

Shames Construction Company in Elk Grove, CA is actively seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction and startup through completion and closeout.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, owner-focused, and adept at managing budgets, schedules, contracts, RFIs, and coordinating with field teams. Travel to project sites as needed is required for this role.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of commercial construction project management experience with a General Contractor.
• Experience managing commercial projects from startup through completion and closeout.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, procurement, and closeout.
• Strong understanding of project financials, including budgets, job costs, forecasting, cost-to-complete, owner billing, and subcontractor payments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience coordinating and managing multiple subcontractor trades.
• Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects from startup through final closeout.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Lead project meetings and maintain proactive stakeholder communication.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, contracts, purchase orders, change orders, procurement, and documentation.
• Coordinate with Superintendents on schedules, field coordination, and subcontractors.
• Monitor long-lead materials, equipment, and delivery requirements.
• Perform site visits to track progress, quality, and coordination.
• Identify risks early and drive issues toward resolution.
• Maintain project information in Procore and manage forecasts.
• Review invoices, owner billings, and retainage; closeout paperwork.
