Barnard Construction Company, Inc. based in Bozeman, MT, is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee the financial aspects of complex projects across North America. The role reports to project leadership and requires travel to project locations as needed.

The position emphasizes managing budgets, interpreting contract terms, and driving profitability while coordinating with multiple departments to maintain project schedules and compliance. Relocation/travel on assignment is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 10+ years' experience in heavy civil and/or underground construction project management.
• Experience with bid-build, CMGC, design-build and other delivery methods.
• Strong ability to manage project budgets and ensure profitability.
• Experience recovering funds from changes and disputes.
• Ability to analyze contract documents, estimates, budgets, and financial docs to identify risk.
• Respond to inquiries or changes/claims from subs, management, regulators, or owners.
• Collaborate with multiple departments and direct reports to complete projects.
• Identify growth opportunities and mentor project personnel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders.
• Ability to present information to project management and/or the public.

Responsabilités

• Manages day-to-day and long-term commercial matters for complex projects.
• Provides oversight to all aspects of the commercial management function from bid to project completion.
• Interprets contract language to understand risks and guide the project team.
• Oversees project change and claim reporting to Project Manager and leadership.
• Oversees change and claim preparation, management and resolution with project team and legal representatives.
• Supports integration of project systems to track costs, schedule and claims.
• Prepares action plan for resolving timely payment for change orders and work.
