Job summary

Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP, a leading California-based firm, is seeking an attorney with 5+ years of experience to join our Commercial Litigation Group. You will manage key aspects of active cases and collaborate with partners, with exposure to arbitration and mediation.

Qualified candidates hold a JD, California Bar in good standing, and have extensive litigation experience including discovery, motions, and trial preparation.

Qualifications

• JD or foreign equivalent from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
• 5+ years of litigation practice experience – including experience in discovery management, motion practice, legal research, depositions, etc.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to providing excellent client service.

Responsibilities

• Take and defend depositions.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Draft dispositive and procedural motions in state and federal court.
• Assume increasing responsibility for case strategy and day-to-day case management.
• Manage and conduct discovery in complex commercial matters.
• Perform legal research and prepare briefs, memoranda, and other substantive filings.
• Support and participate in arbitration and mediation proceedings.
