Job summary

Mission Recruiting, LLC is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney in California to manage civil litigation from intake through resolution. You will handle client communications, legal research, strategy, drafting, discovery, hearings, depositions, and trial work.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of civil litigation experience with first- or second-chair experience in at least 20 California trials; 5–7 years with meaningful hands-on experience will also be considered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar membership.
• Substantial civil litigation experience.
• Primary profile requires 10–15 years as attorney.
• Associate level: 5–7 years with hands-on litigation.
• First- or second-chair experience in at least 20 California trials.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation from intake through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategy with Managing Partner and client.
• Research California statutes, case law, regulations, and authorities.
• Investigate facts and analyze legal issues.
• Draft complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests/responses, legal memoranda.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Appear at hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements aligned with client objectives.
• Communicate with clients and provide case updates.
• Supervise paralegal and legal assistant; manage case files and billing.
