Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including software licensing, SaaS agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), and reseller agreements.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademarks, and patent protection.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., POPIA) and privacy laws.
• Manage commercial litigation and dispute resolution, when necessary.
• Provide legal support for business development initiatives, partnerships, and strategic alliances.
• Conduct legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for commercial ventures.
• Liaise with external counsel on specialized legal matters.
• Develop and implement standardized contract templates and legal policies.
• Advise on consumer protection laws and regulatory compliance relevant to the technology sector.
• Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments impacting the technology industry.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law.
• Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating technology-related contracts (software, SaaS, IT services).
• Strong understanding of intellectual property law and data privacy regulations (POPIA).
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in an in‑house legal role is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with the technology sector, particularly in the Randburg area, is advantageous.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and contract management systems.
• High level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
