Senior Commercial Estimator – Preconstruction (Atlanta)

Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its Atlanta-based preconstruction group. This role focuses on developing accurate budgets and bid proposals for commercial projects, with emphasis on detailed takeoffs and coordinating with subcontractors.

You will work with plans and specs, analyze requirements, solicit bids, and support procurement and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of bid packages. A bachelor's in CM/engineering and 5+ years' construction experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• 3+ years of preconstruction/estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, scopes, and pricing.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced preconstruction environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed budgets, estimates, and bid proposals for commercial construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Develop and review COBs (Comparisons of Bid).
• Assist with subcontractor scope development and preliminary negotiations.
• Participate in constructability and design-assist reviews.
• Collaborate with Operations, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
• Assist with procurement strategies and subcontractor selection.
• Support preliminary scheduling and project planning.
• Help ensure complete and timely delivery of budget and bid packages.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
