Job summary

Columbia Bank is seeking a Business Development Officer to drive commercial deposit growth and expand customer relationships across New Jersey. You will collaborate with branch, treasury, lending, and other partners to tailor banking solutions and expand the overall relationship portfolio.

The role emphasizes proactive lead generation, market research, and regulatory awareness, with a hybrid schedule combining in-office and remote work. A strong network and 5+ years in banking are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 5+ years in commercial banking or business development.
• Proven success developing commercial relationships and generating new deposits.
• Established network of business contacts/COIs and ability to convert relationships.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-bank teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage customer relationships across the assigned market.
• Onboard new accounts and coordinate with branch, treasury, lending and partners.
• Identify deposit opportunities and refer lending opportunities.
• Coordinate meetings between clients and bank representatives.
• Support branch calling activities and set business development goals.
