Job summary

Peoples Bank in Akron, OH seeks an experienced commercial credit underwriter to assess and structure moderately complex loan requests. You will analyze repayment sources, collateral, and industry risk while adhering to bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include underwriting, preparing loan packages in the origination system with portfolio managers, performing appraisal reviews when applicable, and supporting special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; accounting/finance/economics preferred.
• 5+ years commercial credit underwriting or equivalent experience.
• Excellent credit analysis, risk management and loan structuring skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and attentive to detail.
• Proven discretion and sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate viewpoints and make independent decisions.
• Well-versed in bank credit policy and regulatory requirements.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and loan origination systems; nCino a plus.
• Some travel and valid driver's license for travel across Peoples Bank footprint.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites primarily moderately more complex loan requests to meet client needs while protecting the bank.
• Performs high quality credit analysis and underwriting to identify risks and mitigants.
• Evaluates credit requests and structures.
• Complies with policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Validates loan codes within packages for accuracy.
• Participates in Pre-Flight discussions and memorializes takeaways.
• Builds loan request details in the origination system with portfolio managers.
• Performs appraisal review and collateral analysis when applicable.
• Validates risk ratings and requests changes as warranted.
• Performs spreading, renewals, extensions and risk-rating validation as needed.
• Supports special projects as assigned.
