Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC seeks an experienced Assistant General Counsel – Commercial to lead the company’s commercial legal function as it scales from R&D into full commercial execution. You will structure, draft, and negotiate high-value agreements, drive partnerships, and shape contract workflows for a fast-growing fusion technology leader.

You’ll partner with corporate development, supply chain, engineering, and finance to accelerate deals while balancing risk and speed.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of legal experience, ideally at a top-tier law firm with significant in-house work in technology/energy/industrial sectors.
• Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and strategic partnerships.
• Experience with governance, entity structuring, and corporate transaction support.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the commercial legal function with scalable processes, templates, and playbooks.
• Lead high-stakes commercial and partnership negotiations.
• Support corporate development initiatives including JVs, licensing, and tech transfer.
• Advise supply chain and operations on risk and contracts.
• Provide pragmatic legal guidance to executives and cross-functional teams.
