St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, VA seeks an enthusiastic College Counselor to guide students and families through the college process. You’ll join a 100+ year educational community and work with the Office of College Counseling as part of a dedicated, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• At least three years of experience in selective college admissions and/or college counseling in independent schools.
• Deep knowledge of college admissions and financial aid; equity-centered mindset.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills with experience in crafting compelling letters of recommendation.
• Proficiency with college counseling software and testing planning.

Responsibilities

• Build trust-based relationships with students and families across four high school years.
• Collaborate with the counseling team to design signature programs for each year.
• Provide academic advising and four-year course planning.
• Develop individualized college lists reflecting fit and goals.
• Write compelling letters of recommendation for students.
• Craft personalized standardized testing plans and coordinate prep support.
• Co-teach a 6-week college counseling class for juniors and seniors.
• Serve as an upper school advisor and lead/co-lead an extracurricular activity.
• Foster relationships with colleges and universities.
