Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a Senior Code Compliance Officer to lead code enforcement initiatives, ensuring compliance with municipal and state regulations across land use and property maintenance. You will investigate violations, coordinate with the Planning & Community Development Manager, and report outcomes.

The role requires five+ years in code enforcement, strong knowledge of codes, and excellent communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in code enforcement/compliance.
• Extensive knowledge of municipal codes, ordinances, and regulations; knowledge of Texas health practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Certified Code Enforcement Officer Registration or former peace officer; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigates complaints, gathers evidence, and initiates violation reports.
• Patrols town to identify public safety and health violations and responds to service calls.
• Inspects and enforces zoning, housing, health, and nuisance codes; issues notices and citations.
• Advises owners and the public on compliance; researches ownership and permits; coordinates with other departments.
• Coordinates activities with Planning & Community Development Manager and other agencies.
• Develops enforcement procedures and code amendments; prepares education materials.
• Maintains records and prepares periodic reports; supports public awareness efforts.
• Represents Town in court; testifies on violations.
• May require flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
