The City of Madera is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer III to perform the most complex inspections of residential and commercial properties, identify violations, and enforce municipal and health codes with independence. The role requires handling inquiries, preparing reports, and coordinating abatements while staying current on enforcement best practices.

Qualified candidates will have 3 years of experience at the II level, a valid CA driver’s license, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• 3 years full-time experience as Code Enforcement Officer II with City of Madera or equivalent government agency
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license
• Completion of PC 832 Laws of Arrest course
• Certified Basic and Advanced Code Enforcement Certificates from the Sacramento Training Center
• Completion of some coursework in mediation, arbitration and administrative law

Responsabilités

• Patrols and conducts field inspections to enforce city ordinances and health codes
• Gathers evidence, cites violations, and coordinates abatements
• Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence
• Responds to public inquiries and coordinates with neighborhood groups
• Provides technical advice and prepares reports for City Council
• Schedules inspections and responds to emergencies involving code enforcement
