Job summary

The City of Madera is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer II to perform field inspections and enforce city and state codes. The role involves independent work with the public, handling complaints, and coordinating abatement actions.

You will maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and assist in investigations while developing relationships with community organizations and city staff. The position requires a valid California driver’s license and Code Enforcement certifications.

Qualifications

• Two years full-time work experience as Code Enforcement Officer I with City of Madera or equivalent in another government agency.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license.
• Completion of PC 832 Laws of Arrest course.
• Certified Basic and Advanced Code Enforcement Certificates from the Sacramento Training Center or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Patrols and conducts field inspections to ensure code compliance.
• Investigates citizen complaints and coordinates abatements.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and uses records systems.
• Provides information to the public and coordinates with agencies.
• Schedules inspections in pre-determined areas and responds to emergencies.
• Builds positive relationships with community representatives and city staff.
