Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Senior CockroachDB Engineer to lead the design and engineering of a CockroachDB DBaaS platform on the bank's internal infrastructure. Qualifications

Extensive hands-on experience with CockroachDB on Linux.
Strong expertise with Ansible automation frameworks.
Proven experience designing and operating large-scale distributed database platforms in enterprise environments.
End-to-end distributed database architectures focusing on HA, fault tolerance, multi-region deployments, and active-active configurations.
Automation development for VM-based provisioning, cluster deployment, lifecycle management, upgrades, patching, scaling.
Experience integrating database automation with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, or similar.
Ability to define engineering standards, reference architectures, and governance for enterprise DB platforms.

This job is responsible for leading the most complex technical designs that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior CockroachDB Engineer to lead the design, engineering, build automation Bank's CockroachDB Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform. This individual will be responsible for building a secure, scalable, highly available, and automated database platform on the Bank's internal infrastructure while establishing engineering standards and best practices for enterprise-wide adoption.

Responsibilities

Serves as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes and contributes to the technology strategy for end-to-end engineering solutions and provides feedback to the architecture teams
Translates business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
Participates in various steering committees for technical and infrastructure service domains
Leads the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose
Mentors and guides team members to ensure system design technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of the CockroachDB DBaaS platform deployed within the Bank's internal infrastructure.
Build automation and self-service capabilities that enable rapid, standardized provisioning of CockroachDB clusters.
Design and implement high availability (active-active), fault-tolerant, and multi-region database architectures.
Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, operational procedures, and best practices for secure, scalable, and compliant CockroachDB deployments.
Drive platform reliability and operational excellence through monitoring, observability, performance tuning, capacity planning, failover automation, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
Define and implement lifecycle management processes for cluster provisioning, upgrades, patching, scaling, and decommissioning.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CockroachDB related initiatives .
Evaluate emerging technologies and continuously improve the platform architecture, automation, and operational model.

Required Qualifications

Certificate lifecycle management
Vault integration
Key Management as a Service (KMaaS) integration
Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts, including:
Consensus protocols
Replication
Quorum
Failover and recovery mechanisms
Experience integrating database automation with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, or similar platforms.
