Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks and assignments for the team, tracking tasks and tickets and ensuring SLAs are met.
• Provides escalation point for team members and partners, leading triage of high priority incidents.
• Performs all responsibilities of team members from applicable teams.
• Ensures alerts, monitoring, dashboards, and processes are established for new projects.
• Participates in resource interviews and onboarding processes.
• Performs access reviews and compliance activities, and delegates admin processes.
• Creates on-call rotation and ensures off-hours support and release windows.
• Administers PostgreSQL / CockroachDB production environments for high availability.
• Designs PostgreSQL / CockroachDB clusters and replication for scalability and fault tolerance.
• Defines data models and schemas aligned with performance goals.
• Optimizes queries, indexing, and execution plans.
• Monitors performance and performs capacity planning.
• Troubleshoots replication errors and incidents; manages backups and DR.
• Implements security controls including authentication and encryption.
• Develops automation scripts with Python and Shell for maintenance.
• Performs upgrades, migrations, and expansions with minimal impact.

Position Summary:

This job is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities and functions for the assigned team. Key responsibilities include delegating work to team members, supervising work processes, providing informal leadership of sub teams or technology silos, managing on call and support schedules, and providing leadership, mentorship, and direction to team members. Job expectations include solving complex technical and analytical issues and effectively communicating results to senior management and Line of Business partners. Experienced PostgreSQL / CockroachDB Database Administrator with strong expertise in designing and managing highly scalable, distributed database systems. Proven ability to implement geo-distributed and hybrid clusters, replication, and performance tuning strategies, along with advanced troubleshooting and automation using Python and shell scripting. Adept at optimizing database performance, ensuring high availability, and supporting mission-critical applications in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:

• Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks and assignments for the team including tracking tasks and tickets in system(s) of record, ensuring enterprise service level agreements are met, and participating in defect, incident, problem, and change review meetings and release activities
• Provides point of escalation for team members, peers, and partner teams, and shares the leadership Point of Contact for triage of high priority incidents or consulting engagements
• Performs all responsibilities of team members from applicable teams
• Works with appropriate teams to ensure alerts, monitoring, dashboards, and processes are established appropriately for new projects and initiatives
• Participates and helps with resource interviews and onboarding processes
• Performs access reviews, conducts compliance activities, and serves as a delegate for administrative processes
• Creates the on call rotation schedule and ensures support for off hours, weekends, and release windows
• Administer and maintain PostgreSQL / CockroachDB production environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Design and implement PostgreSQL / CockroachDB clusters and replication, enabling horizontal scalability and fault tolerance.
• Define efficient data models and schema designs aligned with application requirements and performance goals.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
• Monitor system performance and conduct capacity planning to support growing workloads.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, replication errors, and production incidents, ensuring minimal downtime. Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
• Implement and manage PostgreSQL / CockroachDB security controls, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Shell scripting to streamline database maintenance, backups, and monitoring.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, and cluster expansions with minimal impact on production systems.

Pay range

$92,100.00 - $160,100.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
