Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in the United States is seeking a CockroachDB Database Engineer to design, build, and operate CockroachDB DBaaS on Linux, delivering scalable data services for enterprise teams.

You will automate deployments with Ansible and shell scripting, enforce standards, ensure high availability, security, and governance, and act as SME for CockroachDB issues while continuously improving reliability.

Qualifications

• Hands-on design and operation of CockroachDB in a DBaaS on Linux.
• Experience with Ansible playbooks and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of distributed databases and high availability.
• Bachelor of Computer Science.

Roles & Responsibilities

The CockroachDB Database Engineer will be a hands‑on Engineer responsible for designing, building, and operationalizing CockroachDB as an enterprise Database‑as‑a‑Service (DBaaS) on Linux platform.

• Develop and enforce engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
• Build automation frameworks using Ansible, shell scripting, and infrastructure-as-code principles to enable scalable, repeatable deployments.
• Design and implement self-service provisioning capabilities for application teams.
• Ensure high availability, performance tuning, monitoring, failover, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Define and implement security, compliance, and governance controls aligned with enterprise policies.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for CockroachDB‑related issues.
• Continuously improve platform reliability, efficiency, and developer experience.
