Job summary

HTC Global Services seeks a Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead to maintain, enhance, and build core business systems. The role blends hands-on COBOL development with technical leadership and production support.

You will analyze requirements, propose solutions, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with business units to ensure delivery of functionality in a Windows-based client-server environment. This position offers a dynamic team, exposure to legacy and modern interfaces, and

Qualifications

6+ years of experience with Visual and/or Micro Focus COBOL.
10+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based client-server environment.
5+ years of experience leading a technical software development team in planning and deployment of software systems.
10+ years of experience coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems in an Oracle SQL database and Windows-based client-server environment.
5+ years of experience providing Level 3 (L3) production support.
5+ years of experience functioning as the primary contact with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications and ensure delivery of specified functionality.
10+ years of experience with computer system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation techniques and practices for developing new systems or modifying existing systems.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to plan, define, lead, direct, instruct, and review project work and personnel.

Responsibilities

Analyze the core business system and assigned tickets for development and/or system modification.
Lead the analysis and proposal of solutions for assigned tickets and projects.
Partner with business units to develop business specifications, translate them into technical specifications, and obtain business sign-off.
Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users to ensure solutions meet documented requirements.
Provide production support for the core system.
Provide daily and weekly status updates to the development manager and business analysts.
Lead technical software development activities involving planning and deployment of software systems.
Mentor and guide less experienced technical colleagues.
Communicate effectively with users, vendors, staff members, and management both orally and in writing.
