Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join the Mainframe Engineering & Payment Processing Technology Team in Mexico. You’ll ensure stability, reliability, and performance of critical payment systems handling millions of transactions daily.

You will modernize and enhance mission-critical applications, influence operational excellence, and support Global Payments’ mission of secure, innovative, and seamless payment experiences worldwide.

Qualifications

6+ years of COBOL development in complex mainframe environments.
Deep knowledge of COBOL, JCL, batch processing, and production incident troubleshooting.
Experience with VSAM, DB2, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, CA-7, and Endevor.
Strong communication and collaboration across technical and business teams.
Bonus: experience with credit card processing or financial services platforms.

Responsibilities

Drive reliability and performance of mainframe payment systems with COBOL solutions.
Lead resolution of production challenges by root-cause analysis and sustainable fixes.
Strengthen batch processing, recovery strategies, and data integrity.
Identify opportunities to optimize performance and reduce recurring issues.
Champion testing, knowledge sharing, and governance for long-term stability.
