Job summary

FIS is hiring a Mainframe Software Engineer to develop and support card management and payment processing solutions. You will design, code, test, and maintain mainframe applications on COBOL, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant production systems.

You will participate in regulatory compliance, production support, and modernization initiatives, contributing to audit-ready documentation and ongoing improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• : COBOL programming fundamentals (1-3 years experience).
• : IBM z/OS Mainframe knowledge.
• : Familiarity with IMS DB/DC, CICS, VSAM, IMS, DB2, and MQ Series.
• : Knowledge of SDLC, testing methodologies, and change management.
• : Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• : Excellent verbal and written communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• : Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.
• : Design and execute comprehensive unit tests to validate functionality and performance.
• : Collaborate with business, product, QA, and engineering teams throughout the lifecycle.
• : Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to development standards.
• : Participate in design discussions, code walkthroughs, and reviews.
