Job summary

Crisil is seeking a motivated Senior Mainframe COBOL Developer to support critical payment applications and contribute to design, development, and modernization efforts. You will work with SMEs and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of mainframe development experience, strong COBOL/CICS/JCL/IMS skills, and familiarity with Agile practices and AI-assisted development tools. This role emphasizes quality, governance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Mainframe application development.
5+ years hands-on with COBOL, CICS, JCL and IMS.
Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS and IMS DB / IMS DC.
Familiar with batch and online transaction processing systems.
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and JIRA.
Awareness of Agentic AI / AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe apps using COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS DB/DC.
Support payment applications for global banking clients.
Collaborate with SMEs and cross-functional teams to ensure quality.
Manage and track team work using JIRA.
Assist in performance tuning, capacity improvements, and documentation.
