Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Principal Cable Design Engineer to lead coaxial cable design from concept through production release. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams and grow into a Subject Matter Expert within the organization.

The role emphasizes materials selection, shielding design, and manufacturability, with strong CAD capabilities and a track record of delivering robust cable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of direct coaxial cable design and/or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with coaxial cable construction, shielding, materials, and attachment design.
• Experience with CAD and drafting; SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new coaxial cable products from concept to production release.
• Develop cable constructions, shielding, materials specs, and attachment designs.
• Optimize electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance for manufacturability and cost.
• Create detailed drawings, BOMs, procedures, and design documentation.
• Use SolidWorks/CAD and ERP/PDM to document designs.
• Initiate and process ECOs for new and existing products.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineering to address production challenges.
• Review customer specs and provide technical input for proposals and performance requirements.
