Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) seeks a Principal Cable Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced coaxial cable products from concept through production release. You will develop cable constructions, shielding designs, material specifications, and attachment designs, while optimizing performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years coaxial cable design/manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with coaxial cable construction, shielding design, materials selection, and attachment design.
• Strong CAD and drafting skills; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with ERP/PDM workflows and engineering processes.
• Experience defining and executing test/measurement protocols for coaxial cable products.
• Knowledge of Mil‑Specs, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new coaxial cable products from concept through production release.
• Develop cable constructions, shielding designs, material specs, and connector attachment designs.
• Optimize electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance while considering manufacturability and cost.
• Create and maintain detailed drawings, specifications, procedures, BOMs, and documentation.
• Use SolidWorks/CAD and ERP systems to document designs.
• Research new materials, technologies, and design concepts for feasibility.
• Initiate, review, and process ECOs for new and existing products.
• Support production by addressing manufacturing challenges and improvements.
• Identify production sequences, tooling, and test requirements.
