Job summary

RTX, including Pratt & Whitney, is seeking a coatings engineer in East Hartford, CT to join the advanced materials team. You will lead development programs to meet customer requirements and collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure successful implementation of coating technologies.

The role focuses on next-generation coatings, funding acquisition, and coordinating with DoD/NASA customers. Expect ~10% travel and a requirement for U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Must have BS in a materials/chemical/physics field with 5+ years in aerospace coatings, or 3+ years with advanced degree.
• Knowledge of aerospace coating application methods and process optimization tools.
• Ability to build positive relationships and work in a team.
• US citizenship is required to access program/contract information.

Responsibilities

• Lead development programs to meet customer requirements in coatings.
• Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines and manufacturing teams as part of an IPT.
• Lead initiatives to establish next-generation coatings for specific applications.
• Interface with AFRL, DOD, DOE, NASA to seek, secure, and execute contracts.
• Work effectively in a team and drive funded projects to completion.
• Bench-mark coating/ alloy tech and update standard engineering work.
