Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Senior Coastal Engineer, Scientist, or Resilience Planner to lead and grow the coastal practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on project leadership, client relationship development, and mentoring while delivering coastal adaptation and restoration solutions.

You will work with a team of engineers, scientists, and planners to address climate resilience challenges for coastal communities across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in coastal engineering, planning, environmental science, environmental policy, geography, landscape architecture, or related field; or an advanced degree with 10+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in coastal engineering, resilience planning, adaptation, or related disciplines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Experience working directly with clients and developing business opportunities.
• Familiarity with SF Bay Area coastal regulatory and planning landscape.
• Located in the Bay Area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead coastal engineering, resilience, adaptation, and restoration projects in the Bay Area and beyond.
• Grow coastal practice by building relationships with clients, agencies, and partners.
• Manage scopes, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop coastal adaptation plans, studies, analyses, and designs.
• Support proposals and business development initiatives.
• Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative culture.
• Represent Stantec in the coastal community and thought leadership.
