Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Senior Coastal Engineer, Scientist, or Resilience Planner to lead and grow our coastal practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will guide projects, mentor staff, and build strong client relationships among engineers, planners, and resilience practitioners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in coastal engineering, planning, environmental science, environmental policy, geography, landscape architecture, or a related field; or an advanced degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in coastal engineering, resilience planning, adaptation, or related disciplines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Experience working directly with clients and developing business opportunities.
• Familiarity with the coastal regulatory and planning landscape in the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Located in the Bay Area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to coastal engineering, resilience, adaptation, and restoration projects throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
• Help grow Stantec's coastal practice by building relationships with clients, agencies, and project partners.
• Manage projects, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop coastal adaptation plans, engineering studies, technical analyses, and design solutions.
• Support and lead proposal pursuits and business development initiatives.
• Mentor and develop junior staff while fostering a collaborative team culture.
• Represent Stantec in the coastal community through professional engagement and thought leadership.
