Job summary

Projects Incorporated seeks an experienced Senior Vertical Milling Machinist to independently set up, program, and operate CNC and manual vertical milling machines to produce high-precision parts. The role requires advanced blueprint and GD&T skills and the ability to serve as a technical resource on the shop floor.

The candidate will lead complex machining operations, optimize speeds and feeds, and mentor junior machinists while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• 8+ years of vertical milling experience.
• Strong CNC programming and setup experience.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Proven ability to run complex jobs independently.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC and/or manual vertical milling machines.
• Select tooling and machining strategies for accuracy and tool life.
• Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code or CAM software.
• Perform contouring, pocketing, drilling, and other precision operations.
• Read blueprints, GD&T, and establish tool offsets and sequences.
• Inspect parts with precision measuring tools and ensure tolerances.
• Mentor junior machinists and maintain a safe, organized shop.
