Job summary

Smith & Nephew, Inc. in Memphis, TN is seeking a Sr. CNC Programmer to optimize advanced machining processes that support life changing medical technology.

You will create, maintain and optimize multi axis CNC programs using CAD CAM software, improving efficiency and standardizing processes in a highly regulated environment. The role involves proving out programs on machine tools, developing robust CNC solutions, mentoring other programmers, and supporting equipment validation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required, technical or college degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming experience including at least 3 years using CAD CAM software.
• Strong experience programming multi axis mills, mill turn or lathe using systems such as UG NX or similar.
• Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds and speeds with a focus on standardization.
• Ability to work effectively in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills including trigonometry.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and optimize multi axis CNC programs using CAD CAM software.
• Improve machining efficiency through optimized cutting strategies, tool life and standardized processes.
• Develop robust and compliant CNC machining solutions for regulated manufacturing.
• Prove out CNC programs on machine tools and perform real time corrections.
• Prepare detailed work instructions and support machining validations including operator training.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Quality and plant teams.
• Maintain the master CNC program directory to ensure file integrity and compliance.
• Drive cost improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement.
