Frey Consulting Group in Milford, CT is seeking a Senior CNC Mill Set Up Technician to join a precision manufacturing environment. You will set up, operate, program, and troubleshoot 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical CNC milling machines producing high‑precision parts for aerospace, defense, and medical applications.

This hands-on role emphasizes technical excellence and collaboration with engineers and quality teams, with a strong focus on first‑piece and production dimensional accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum of approximately 5 years of CNC milling setup experience.
• Strong hands-on ability to set up and run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical CNC milling machines.
• Ability to write, edit, or adjust CNC programs using G-code.
• Experience programming and working with positional indexers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong proficiency with precision measuring instruments and gauges.
• Ability to verify both first-piece and ongoing production dimensions.
• Strong machining and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively with manufacturing engineers and quality teams.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.
• Reliable attendance and a professional, team-oriented approach.
• Ability to work onsite in Milford, CT on first shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis vertical CNC milling machines.
• Write, edit, and adjust CNC programs using G-code
• Program and work with positional indexers
• Troubleshoot machining, setup, tooling, and production issues
• Work with Fanuc controls and potentially other CNC control environments
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to verify first-piece and production dimensions
• Work closely with manufacturing engineers and quality personnel to ensure machines and processes are operating correctly
• Support efficient workflows between planning, engineering, quality, and the shop floor
• Help other machinists troubleshoot difficult setups and machining challenges
• Maintain high standards for accuracy, precision, workmanship, and quality
• Serve as a positive technical example for professionalism, accountability, and shop-floor behavior
• Support the quality requirements associated with aerospace, defense, medical, and other precision-manufacturing applications
