Job summary

TECOMET is seeking a CNC Machinist III in Wakefield, MA to operate, set up, and possibly program CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDMs, ensuring parts meet exact specifications. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, safe practices, and quality under OOQ standards.

You will read blueprints, adjust tooling, collaborate with Engineering, and contribute to Fixture redesigns to boost quality and productivity. Strong math, attention to detail, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years CNC machining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and possibly program CNC mills, Wire EDMs, and lathes to tight tolerances per drawings.
• Suggest new production setups and adjust offsets/tools as part of setups.
• Perform complex CNC work with close tolerances on various materials.
• Read and evaluate blueprints or specifications.
• Troubleshoot CNC programs and processes.
• Improve and produce work instructions.
• Assist Engineering with fixture redesigns to improve quality and productivity.
• Ensure OOQ quality using measuring equipment and document readings.
• Suggest speeds and feeds for different machining needs.
• Perform routine machine maintenance per PM schedule.
• Perform hand finishing.
• Follow GMP/GDP and complete job routers/cards.
• Maintain safe working practices and report safety concerns.
• Meet productivity targets and seek improvements.
• Record all activities in the job tracking system.
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Escalate manufacturing issues to Team Leader or Supervisor.
• Maintain 5S/housekeeping in the work area.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Education

Associate degree/certificate in Tooling & Machining or Machinist apprenticeship
