Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking an experienced Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes and manual equipment to manufacture and repair precision components across industrial applications.

You will read engineering drawings, determine machining requirements, select tooling, and perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure conformance.

This hands-on role demands independent work, strong problem-solving, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of machining experience with CNC and/or manual equipment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
• Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual lathes, drill presses, shears, and other machine shop equipment to manufacture and repair components.
• Produce custom and precision-machined parts for various projects and applications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
• Machine components to required specifications and tolerances (including ±0.005 inch).
• Determine setups, tooling, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and sequences for work.
• Set and adjust tooling, offsets, and machine settings to achieve required dimensions and finishes.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges to inspect work and verify accuracy.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections and adjust as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and dimensional issues as they arise.
• Collaborate with fabrication, millwright, and project teams to manufacture or repair components.
• Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of machining equipment and report needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized shop and follow safety procedures.
• Manage multiple projects and meet schedules.
• Other duties as assigned
