hireCNC is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist III for a contract assignment in the Woburn, Massachusetts area. This hands-on role requires setting up and running CNC mills and lathes, adjusting offsets and tooling, and maintaining tight tolerances on a range of metals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC machining experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate, set up, and maintain CNC machines, and to run multiple machines.
• Ability to set up, adjust offsets, and run both development and production jobs.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings.
• Solid math and measuring skills.
• A proven record of quality, on-time production runs and a commitment to safety.
• Able to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC mills and lathes (and wire EDM) within tolerance, following work instructions, machine programs, and engineering drawings.
• Propose new production setups and change offsets and tooling as part of the setup.
• Machine a variety of parts and metals where very close tolerances must be held.
• Read and evaluate blueprints and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and understand CNC programs and processes, and program with some supervision when needed.
• Inspect your own work with a range of measuring equipment and interpret the readings.
• Propose adjusted speeds and feeds for different machining requirements.
• Perform routine machine maintenance from the daily checklist and hand finishing.
• Complete job routers and records in line with good manufacturing and documentation practices.
• Help improve work instructions and assist engineering with fixture redesign, and help train newer machinists.
