Job summary

OPTI STAFFING is hiring for a CNC Lathe II/III Machinist in Tigard, OR. The candidate will set up and operate CNC lathes, read blueprints, and program tool offsets in a fast-paced ISO-certified shop.

The role emphasizes precision, continuous improvement, and teamwork with engineering on part design improvements. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of manufacturing machining experience, strong math and blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to work independently on projects while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (AA in Machine Technology preferred).
• 5+ years machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints (fractional & decimal).
• Strong math skills including trigonometry.
• Experience with precision measuring tools (to thousandths).
• Ability to read machine codes and set offsets/tooling.
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine flat and formed parts to precise specifications
• Read and interpret engineered drawings and machine codes
• Set tooling, fixtures, programs, and tool offsets
• Troubleshoot machining, programming, and material issues
• Act as a technical resource for tooling and machining processes
• Work with engineering on part design improvements and corrective actions
• Reduce scrap, labor time, and material waste
• Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks
• Maintain job tracking, labor reporting, and redline documentation
• Ensure cleanliness and compliance with ISO and safety standards
• Take ownership of larger machining projects as needed
