OPTI STAFFING IS HIRING! The position is with a well‑established ISO‑certified manufacturing company in Tigard, OR. We seek an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join a skilled, teamwork‑driven shop focused on precision and continuous improvement.

You will set up and operate CNC lathes, read blueprints, interpret machine codes, and work with engineers on design improvements. Monday–Friday day shift, 7am–3:30pm, with pay $26–$32+ per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints (fractional & decimal).
• Ability to read machine codes and set offsets/tooling.
• Strong math skills including trigonometry.
• Experience with precision measuring tools (to thousandths).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine parts to precise specs.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings and machine codes.
• Set tooling, fixtures, programs, and tool offsets.
• Troubleshoot machining, programming, and material issues.
• Act as a technical resource for tooling and machining processes.
• Work with engineering on part design improvements and corrective actions.
• Reduce scrap, labor time, and material waste.
• Maintain job tracking, labor reporting, and redline documentation.
• Ensure cleanliness and ISO standards compliance.
• Take ownership of larger machining projects as needed.

What You'll Do:

• Read and interpret engineered drawings and machine codes
• Set tooling, fixtures, programs, and tool offsets
• Troubleshoot machining, programming, and material issues
• Act as a technical resource for tooling and machining processes
• Work with engineering on part design improvements and corrective actions
• Reduce scrap, labor time, and material waste
• Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks
• Maintain job tracking, labor reporting, and redline documentation
• Ensure cleanliness and compliance with ISO and safety standards
• Take ownership of larger machining projects as needed

What You Need to Have:

• 3+ years machining experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong CNC lathe setup and operation experience
• Ability to read blueprints (fractional & decimal)
• Strong math skills including trigonometry
• Experience with precision measuring tools (to thousandths)
• Ability to read machine codes and set offsets/tooling
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude

The Musts:

• Proven CNC lathe setup and machining experience
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong blueprint reading and measurement accuracy
• Ability to stand full shift and lift up to 35 lbs
• Commitment to safety and ISO standards

Preferred:

• Experience acting as a lead or senior machinist
• Experience supporting engineering with design feedback or redlines
• Prior ISO manufacturing environment experience
