Job summary

Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs is seeking a Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) in Activities at Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans’ Nursing Home, Orlando. The role primarily supports Activities but may assist on resident units as needed.

You will implement activity plans, document progress in medical records, and coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team. Excellent benefits include retirement, health/dental, paid leave, and tuition waivers.

Qualifications

• Must have current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Florida.
• Must be willing and able to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have good computer skills.
• Current CPR card.
• Successful completion of the employment screening process including background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and implementing an activities program to improve physical, mental, and social well‑being.
• Develop individual activity plans for residents with inter-disciplinary team input.
• Document plans in the resident’s medical record.
• Interview new residents and input data into medical records.
• Perform duties of Activities Director when Director is unavailable.
• Maintain activity space and ensure resident safety.
• Assist with ADLs and transportation to meals.
• Observe and report resident concerns to supervisor.
• Escort residents to appointments as required.
• Complete assignments timely and accurately.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and in-service programs.
